Kayak Lessons

All our lessons are taught by professionally certified sea kayak guides and are designed with recreational and touring users in mind. Lessons can be booked with as few as 2 people. View our calendar for upcoming lessons HERE.

The Basics Of Kayaking

This 3 hour course is designed for the novice paddler who would like to try sea kayaking (or would like a review of the basics) and is taught by professionally certified sea kayak guides. No experience is necessary.  Your instructor and all paddling equipment is provided.  Includes: discussion of kayak design and materials, fitting oneself into a kayak, controlling the kayak using basic strokes, efficiency as a paddler, entering and exiting the kayak from a dock or a beach, rudder and skeg systems, safety awareness (including optional wet exit training).

  • $120 per person  based on a minimum of 2 people participating

  • Group Rate- 4 or more: $95 per person

Essentials of Sea Kayaking

This 6.5 hour course is designed as an excellent and comprehensive introduction to sea kayaking. No experience is necessary. Your instructor and all paddling equipment is provided. Includes: the basics (same as above), plus wet exits, self-rescues, tandem rescues, outfitting a kayak for touring, and kayak navigation.

 

  • $170 per person  based on a minimum of 2 people participating

  • Group Rate- 4 or more: $135 per person

  • Rates do not include taxes or gratuities for the guide.

Kayak Rescues Training

This 3 hour course is designed for paddlers that would like to refresh or learn sound rescue skills for sea kayaking.  Basic skills (such as those learned in our “Basics of Kayaking” course) are a pre-requisite.  Your instructor and all paddling equipment is provided.  Includes: stroke review, bracing techniques, wet exits, self rescues, and tandem rescues.

  • $120 per person  based on a minimum of 2 people participating

  • Group Rate- 4 or more: $95 per person

  • This course can also be taught in a pool; please inquire for rates

  • Rates do not include taxes or gratuities for the guide

What to bring to a kayak lesson:
  • Shoes that can get wet (old running shoes, aqua shoes, sandals, etc).

  • Swimsuit, Towel and Change of Clothes

  • Water, Lunch and Snacks

  • Sun Block, Sun Glasses, Sun Hat

  • Wetsuits are available for an additional $15
